November was a great month for NPA. Our regular daily readership has roughly tripled since the beginning of the month. Thanks a lot for making NPA a new daily part of your life.
My goal for this site is to offer the best (roughly) daily poker strategy read on the web. I want to be the place where you know you’ll get a straight and reliable answer to your poker questions. But to come up with daily content, I need your help. I need you to submit hands. To submit questions. I don’t want this site to be about me. I don’t want to talk about what’s on my mind. I want to hear what’s on your mind. What do you want to know about? What stuff do you struggle with? If you read a forum post or play a hand, and you aren’t sure what you think of it, post it here.![]()
Ask your questions in this thread. Post a comment here, and you’ll see an answer to your question in a few days.
In other news, Bill Frist announced today that he wouldn’t run for president in 2008. Can’t say I planned to vote for him.

Ok, if you’re running short of questions….
I’m not much of a NL player, but I’ve been watching some of the stoxpoker NL videos. He likes to make a play he calls a “squeeze”. Harrington discussed this play in his books: he will sometimes raise with a marginal hand after one or more people have limped with presumably weak holdings, expecting to take the pot right away. Stox will go so as far as to sometimes do this from the blinds after several people have entered the pot.
So when exactly is a squeeze called for? What is the justification for the play? It seems pretty risky to me, especially in loose games where you are likely to get called. In the best of circumstances, it doesn’t seem like a play you can get away with very often.
