Paul asks,
love the new site and that you have rss going. here’s a hand I played that I thought was a tough decision, interested to get your thoughts:
5/10 NL online, 1k effective stacks. not much info on villian, he has called a lot on early streets and frequently bet big on later streets when checked to, almost always in position.
hero opens for 35 with A:club:7:club: in the cutoff, villian cold calls on the button, blinds fold. flop is A:spade: 5:spade: 8:club:. hero bets 65 into a pot of 85, villian calls. like the bet? I think I should have bet less here in retrospect.
the turn is the J:club:. pot is 215, hero bets 165. curious if you think this is a mistake? anyways, villian calls.
river is 7:heart:. pot is 545, hero checks, villian moves allin for 735. hero?
I really appreciate this submission, Paul. This hand is well worth discussing. One of the most common and fundamental mistakes that many no limit players make is that they put in too much money out of position with marginal hands. Unfortunately, that’s the mistake I think you made throughout this hand.

Nice post. So I take it from your post that your line here (assuming that you play this hand preflop), would be a half pot bet on the flop, followed by check-call or check fold to the river? That’s certainly my line – if I play A7s OOP it is purely for the chance of a flush and not for top pair value.
Looking forward to your book – there seem to be a lack of non-tournament NL books. I assume that the new book will be more paractical and less theoretical than NLHE Theory and Practice?
