I’m excited to see so many people buying and reading Professional No-Limit Hold’em: Volume 1. It was a joy to work with my esteemed co-authors Matt Flynn and Sunny Mehta, and it’s a joy to see so many people learning from the book.

Before it went to print, 2+2 edited out the bulk of the Acknowledgments that I’d written for the book. So I figured I’d take some time here to acknowledge a few people. I’d like first to thank Matt and Sunny without whom the book would never have gotten past page 1. Their insight into no-limit is truly remarkable, and my game improved by leaps and bounds in the year I spent working with them. All the most original and inspired ideas in PNL come directly from them.

Our editor, Anna Paradox, was excellent and extremely flexible. She put together the most impressive 3-day marathon editing session I’ve ever seen. Thank you Anna.

Elaine, my wife, is truly wonderful. She’s helped improve my writing, and beyond that, she is the best partner anyone could ask for. Whenever I get stuck in a life rut, she helps lift me out of it, encouraging me to better myself and apply my skills in a new direction.

My parents, Mimi and Raymond, have always been shockingly supportive of my various decisions to pursue and continue a career in poker. While most parents would no doubt be horrified if their student-loan-addled child decided to quit their job and gamble for a living, I was lucky to have two very understanding and supportive people as my parents. Thank you Mom and Dab.

I will always be indebted to Al Schoonmaker who worked with me on Small Stakes Hold’em and Getting Started in Hold’em. His pithy editing absolutely transformed my writing. I highly doubt I would have four successful books under my belt had I never met Dr. Schoonmaker.

I also want to thank everyone who helped to review the manuscript. You guys got mentioned in the PNL Acknowledgments, but I figured you deserve another shout out.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who reads my books and who reads and/or participates at NotedPokerAuthority.com. It’s really outstanding to have such an intelligent and positive (and growing) group of people to write for and talk to about poker. I really appreciate the time you spend here, and I hope to keep making NPA a bigger and better place for the future.

Note: It is possible to be horrified AND understanding and supportive, all at the same time. Just sayin’….

Mom, dad, you know those 4 years I spent in Cambridge? Well, I thinking I might pursue a different direction … Have you seen Rounders? Maybe you shouldn’t … Oh, you have … Well, think more Damon and not Ed Norton … No, no, not Ed Norton … No, no, I’m not the sucker … Yes, I’m sure. And anyway, that’s just an expression …

Good times at the Miller house.

Very nice to read your acknowledgments, Ed, but as a reader I acknowledge all that you do here on the website, and with your books. It’s a fantastic contribution, made in a generous spirit you don’t often see. Thanks for your hard work, too.
