I know this is an old post but I think it's funny that pessimist apparently never realized that Ed wrote an entire book about LHE that's about 75% about how to play postflop!

To pessimist: First of all, no one plays optimaly 100 percent of the time at any street. And Ed is under no obligation to teach us anything. He does this out of love for the game and I am just happy he does. Whether he's talking pre flop or post flop play I try to soak it up without whining about his articles being too much about this or that, you should too...

pessimist said: "Odds are you are one of those in this list but don’t know it yet..."

Well that's one bet you would lose. I'm on the list and I know it full well.

I think most of us who visit this site have a more realistic view of our abilities than you give us credit for. If we didn't think we had something to learn, we wouldn't be coming here...

JJS - I am willing to bet 9 out of 10 regulars on this site do not play optimally post flop. Odds are you are one of those in this list but don't know it yet, most people don't realize it until a long people of time goes by. I know Ed discusses post flop play often but not nearly at the level he has in the 5+ years (not a newbie) I have been reading his posts and essays since this forum was started. Post flop is the best area he can concentrate on to help you all.

pessimist - I assume you must be a newbie to this site. Most of the advice Ed gives here, and also in his books and CD's, is about post-flop play.

One problem with this otherwise great essay. Most of the people reading it will think they play well post flop, but in reality do not - and may not have the huge edge they should have which allows them to open up their pre-flop range. Ed should focus more on post flop play, thats where the money is made without a doubt.

Ha! Every poker player should have this embroidered, framed and hung over living-room sofas: "Preflop play is about getting to see flops against players who will give you their money by playing poorly."
