I don’t believe ed miller has discussed yet and I think it is one of the most important tools you need in becoming a good short stacker. If you could explain the math behind it and how to use software such as pokerstove to effectively figure out what you should shove if you’re the big blind and a loose button player raises. I’d like to hear your thoughts on what is a "safe" restealing range even if button raisers are a little on the tight side.

How short a short stack? 20BBs? There are a couple of tools that would help you even though they are not explicitly to do with short stacking (in cash games at least).

One is sit ‘n go wizard. You can download a trial. It deals with short stack situations at the end of a 1 table tournament but the math behind it is quite relevant and could be a useful estimate if you play with it and adjust the villains ranges.

The other is the Sklansky Chubakov numbers which are published in Ed’s book No Limit Holdem Theory and Practice. Again not exacly relevant but could be used here.

I don’t have a lot of experience playing hands like this, but from my understanding it is just a matter of estimating your equity.  So, you estimate how much of his range he will fold to your AI 3-bet and what equity you are getting when you are called and see if it is +EV.

I’m sure someone will come behind me with some more specific info, but I believe this is the jist of it.
