The No-Limit Toolbox — The Re-Squeeze

This is a tactic I have been using with players knowing to have a history of a squeeze play since I squeeze often with random hands and any time I have a cutoff or button playable hand but one has to be carefull it is not AA trying to provoke you to commit your stack preflop.

I believe Vanessa Selbst tried the resqueeze in the 2006 WSOP at a televised final table with a hand like 2-5. She ran into AA (eventually quad A) and looked oh, so silly. Remember kids, you want to have a good read if you’re going to try this on TV.

To watch it really work, dig up the 2004 WSOP and watch Gavin Griffin pull it out of the bag with Gabe Thaler and another guy in one of the pot limit events.

You could also flat-call a raise with a big hand too, especially if there’s an aggressive reraiser behind you. Let’s say you’re playing $1/$2 with $200 stacks. Folds to the CO who raises to $8. You have QQ on the button. I like a call here if there are aggressive players in the blinds. Since they like to resteal so often (since they probably won’t respect a cutoff raise), you can let them do so instead of blowing them out of the water with a reraise. In the event you do have to take a flop, you still have a strong (and disguised) hand, and will have position.

Do you resqueeze deeper-stacked than that, Ed, or are you going to be too concerned about the fourbet?
