Noted Poker Improvements

I’m planning some improvements and tweaks around here. First, I’m looking into adding a discussion area to replace the questions threads. It’s great that people are having discussions in the Questions Threads, but now that things have gotten livelier in there, it can get a little confusing with multiple topics in the same thread. So keep talking in the questions threads for now, but get excited for the new discussion area. :)

Second, I’m planning to tweak the format a little bit. I’m going to try to do two Q&As or Hand Discussions per week and then fill the rest of the week out with somewhat lighter fare: lists, quick tips, book/DVD/product reviews, quick hand discussions, whatever. Basically I want to mix it up a little so there’s long articles to read when you want to put your thinking cap on and shorter stuff when you want more of a casual read. I also plan to add in occasional posts about topics poker players are interested in that aren’t quite poker: personal finance, business ideas, cool internet stuff, leisure, etc.

Third, I’m making some changes to the software that will just show up randomly over time. I want to make the archives better and more easily searchable, I want to improve the front page to make the site easier to navigate, and I plan to create some “lines” of posts to help people find the good stuff faster.

Let me know what you think of the changes, and if you have ideas for stuff you’d like to see, let me know.

Ed,

I’m glad you’re making more frequent posts and planning on expanding. I took a finance course last semester and am currently taking macroeconomics just for the hell of it, so I especially like idea of covering related topics.

A minor problem with the current software is that I can edit my profile but when I change my home page, it doesn’t update the link in the ‘Top Commentators’ list. I want everyone to check out my AWESOME poker programs! (Your awe may vary.)

A useful feature would be to be able to preview and edit comments before submitting them.

Hi uDevil,

Hrmm.. I’ll look into the top commenters link thing.

I agree about previewing and editing comments. There’s probably a plugin for that… I’ll poke around and see if I can find one.

Ed
