Archive Review: NPA Birthday Edition

NotedPokerAuthority.com is almost one year old! The first post was made on October 16, 2006, so NPA’s birthday is next Tuesday. I wasn’t sure exactly how the site would work out when I started doing Q&As a year ago, but today I have to say that it’s been a success well beyond what I expected. I’ve received a ton of great questions, we now have over 1,000 regular subscribers, and I’m having just as much fun doing the site today as I did when I started.

In addition to the advice column and articles on the site, we now also have a thriving community on the message board, a poker coach directory, and we have the first of hopefully many poker tools, a pot equity calculator.

I’m going to celebrate NPA’s birthday by giving away some books and DVDs; look out for a post about that in a day or two. For today, though, I figured I’d do an archive review of a few of the earliest posts on NPA:

To be fair, the site is older than a year. It’s closer to 2.5 years old. But the blog part/ the dynamic site content is one year old. And your control and interest of the site is one year old.

Show me a wife who does NOT have the final say and I’ll show you a poker player who never had a bad beat… :)

It’s hard to believe it has been a year. Thanks for making all of this information available, Ed.

I’m a regular subscriber–I use google reader for this, which is fantastic. Even though sometimes I don’t get to all the journal entries on a day-to-day basis, I will usually hit them up after several weeks. There are always good hand discussions going. Very good for getting through these tough situations. The game is tougher and this is a great resource for that.

I remember visiting this site for the first time in August of last year, in order to find out more about the poker player who has degrees in physics and computer science just like I do.

I had the wrong idea about poker before that. I never imagined that someone with an engineering background would like the game, so I never paid much attention to it. Since then I’ve learned a lot and now I understand better.

Thanks Ed for sharing your insights with us.
